BOB AND CAMILLE AT HOME ON MAUI

 

WHO IS THIS BABY?

This is an old photo of Mom and Nana in Atlantic Highlands with a soon to be identified baby.  Mom?

 

NEW SHOES...

 

for Bob and Camille, bought over the Internet and received a week later in the mail.

Bob also bought Camille these cozy slippers as an early Birthday Present.  They will keep her feet toasty during this long, cold winter we are having.  Bob has already begun celebrating Camille's 50th birthday with gifts!

 

WORST MAUI WINTER ON RECORD

Many of the days during the last three months have looked like this - grey, wet and blustery.

 

LONG NIGHTS AND WET DAYS

  

The dawn has been slow in coming on these overcast days.  Here is a picture of predawn hibiscus bloom outside our home on March 2nd and one dripping with rain on the 14th.

 

JENNIFER'S FAMILY HOME

This is Waihee valley, where Jennifer's husband's family has lived for generations.

This is the old homestead that they had moved from not too far away into this new spot.  Jennifer and Paul  have their work cut out for them but will soon be enjoying an idyllic life away from the hustle and bustle of town.

 

ALOHA GLASS RECYCLING

  

This is a mountain of crushed glass ready for use in Maui's highway projects.  There are a a couple of thousands tons in this glass pile.

The lagoon behind Aloha Recycling is fringed with date palms and stocked with hungry fish who leap out of the water in anticipation of treats when they see anyone coming.

 

ALOHA'S HIBISCUS HEDGE

On the 24th, Camille took on the final piece of this hedge with a pair of loppers Tom had brought to work.

A few pints of sweat and a couple of calluses yielded this better, brand new look.

 

RADICCHIO

  

These impressive heads of radicchio are new to our garden.  Bob is reading up on them to learn out how to properly grow and process them.  This crop, while ornamental, was too bitter for our liking.

 

NONE OF YOUR BEESWAX

Bob lights up our life with these beautiful homemade beeswax candles.

 

STOPPING BY TO SMELL THE ROSES

Pamela came by on the 26th in her black Converse All Stars and John took her on a olfactory tour of his rose garden.

 

VEGETABLE GARDEN OR PARKING LOT?

 

Bob has moved the lettuce garden to the south side of the house for the winter and our little car is more than happy to share its space.

 

THE HAPPY SENTINEL

On the 28th, we had a dry Sunday morning and used it to work outside.  One of our projects was the renovation of our entrance garden with its earnest little sentinel.  He has lots to smile about now.
