As you know I’m struggling with some of the same issues although it’s in a different place and with different folks. It really helps to read that even your community (which I KNEW was perfect 🙂 has some of the same challenges. I’ve lately decided that it’s my expectations that are the problem – I thought our Intentional Community’s expectations were clear, but I’ve learned that we all still “see” a different part of that elephant. Instead of nursing my frustration I’m going to try to focus on those three expectations: acceptance, respect, and support. Thank you for your wisdom.

I love your little community and what you have all created. I’m now finding it difficult to NOT be part of a community. In our new little town, not many people seem to want to welcome us here and I’m not sure why. I find that odd and unsettling. It’s almost as if the smaller the town, the more reclusive they become (which doesn’t make much sense). I’m still trying to figure it out.

I would add that I would want in a community, a succession plan for those who come after us. I see no point in all this but self-service if I cannot incorporate even those who aren’t born to the world yet but who will be entrusted with what we have begun. That we leave a legacy of possibility and promise so the choice to leave these hills will be a decision and not a necessity. This is how I view the farm and any hyperlocal village minded economy we midwife together. It’s not for anything but for each other. I love u sister.
