LOVE IS ALL THERE IS

In honor of Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Solstice, I’d like to share a message that has been firmly planted in my psyche by my mother: “Love is all there is.”

The Beatles, pop icons from my formative years, said it this way: “Love is all you need.” Another famous version of this is, “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them,” otherwise known as the Golden Rule. Likewise, our hero, Kurt Vonnegut often exhorts his readers to treat others with ”Common Decency.” I hope someday this noble concept catches on.

Jesus said, “If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” And, the great Mahatma Gandhi said, “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall – think of it, ALWAYS.”
