TurbineBladeThe best thing we’ve seen over the past three days on the road is several loads of giant windmill parts cruising down the highway.

Christine, our five speed Ford Escort is in fine form, getting 40 miles per gallon on the highway as we speed towards our new life in Pittsboro, North Carolina. A life we hope will be more community minded and sustainable than the one we left behind in Denton, Texas.

With crude oil for December delivery at a record $95.93 a barrel yesterday, we decided to pull our savings out of the stock market. We kept the windmill stock and our socially responsible mutual funds.

Yep, time to shift gears and invest our time, energy and money into creating a sustainable future for ourselves and for the world. Seeing those windmills was a good sign.
